VP Membership Cochair 2 | Bethany Lamens

Meet Bethany!

Bethany was raised in Bothell and loves being part of the community she grew up in and calls home.  She has two children at Fernwood this year and one who graduated from Fernwood and is at Skyview Middle School this year.  Lucy is in 5th grade, Everett is in 2nd grade, and Ella is in 7th grade.

Bethany has enjoyed being part of the Fernwood Community for the past seven years. This will be her third year on the PTSA board. She will be supporting the Fundraising Chairs and Membership Chairs. She has co-chaired the Fernwood Yearbook Committee for three years and will be helping with the Yearbook Committee again this year. She also enjoys volunteering in her children’s classrooms, leading school tours for new families, helping with staff appreciation, the Fernwood Book Fair, chaperoning 5th grade camp, helping with class parties and special days, along with helping to organize the fundraising for Fernwood.

She is a former elementary teacher and has put that teaching background to use as a substitute teacher in the Northshore School District. She substitute teaches, mostly at Fernwood. Your kids may recognize “Mrs. Lamens” when they see her at school.  She loves getting to know the kids and teachers at Fernwood and being in different classrooms throughout the school. She received her degree in Elementary Education from Whitworth University with a minor in Psychology, and then moved to Las Vegas to teach. While living in Las Vegas she completed her Masters in Reading. After teaching in Las Vegas for two years, she moved to Issaquah, WA where she taught 1st and 2nd grade for eight years. She keeps in touch with many of her former students who have now graduated from college!

She is looking forward to being on the board this year and feels strongly about being involved in her children’s school and education. She is excited to support the board members this year and to make a positive impact on the Fernwood Community.
